Just got back from ten great days of fishing and surfing in Ireland. Having just read the last review I can only agree fully with the opinion of the contributor. The accomodation was excellent, very well stocked and the woodburner was great during the evenings for a bit of extra warmth. It was interesting to note how helpful the owner Barrie was, we had much the same assistance from him. When we arrived we asked for a couple of things and they were there within minutes. Our car also misbehaved slightly and he recommended someone to look at it for us which didn't cost us anything. We used the pub once or twice but it was very quiet as it was the end of the season. The fishing was superb as was the surf, food, pubs. Would I go back - absolutely!

Myself, my father an a friend stayed here in august 2009 while down for a week of boat fishing off the kerry coast. For this puspose (and for others) i found this to be an excellent choice and the best overall venue we have stayed in on the Dingle penninsula for boat fishing (out of around 15 years of going there). Firstly there was plenty of space in the secure carpark to park our 17 foot boat so it was easy to park up and tow out every day (which has been a pain in some other places we have stayed). There was also a chest freezer to store our catch and plenty of drying room for wet gear. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean and all cutlery etc was clean and well stocked (we were self catering). There was a pub and restaurant on the site which was lively (but not noisy and you dont hear it in the cottages) at nights with friendly staff and good value and quality evening meals, not to mention cold pints after a days fishing. The location is close to Kerry airport (which i needed in the end, see below) and just a ten minute drive to scraggane slipway which is the best small boat slipway on the penninsula to access the excellent fishing in Tralee and Brandon bays. the location is also close to the shore venues in tralee for stingray and other rays and the brandon storm beaches for bass. Brandon pier is also close for evening mackerel fishing if you need it. What i was most impressed with though was the flexibility of the owner Barry. on the last scheduled day of our trip (a saturday evening) our jeep snapped an alternator belt so we were stuck unable to tow the boat back until we could get it fixed on the monday morning. For a very minimal charge Barry arranged for us to stay an extra 2 nights and arranged taxi transport for me to the airport on the sunday as i had to return home for a work meeting for a very reasonable fare. For anyone boat fishing in the area i highly recommend it and likewise for shore fishing. It also a good base for anyone into surfing in brandon bay, sighseeing, walking etc. Also very close to tralee and the roads are good all the way in. Suitable for families also as there were plenty on site during our stay and a short walk to the beaches.

We just returned from a two week tour of Ireland. One of our favorite stops was Dingle Peninsula where we rented a self-catered cottage (attached on one side) at Tralee Holiday Village (also known as Seven Hogs). (http://www.traleebay.com) Barrie O'Brien is the very helpful proprietor. Our cottage had three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen with an eating area and sitting room with a small peat/wood burning stove. A restaurant and pub are conveniently located on the premises, but the location is also convenient to Tralee, Castlegregory, surfing beaches, and the many scenic roads leading to the beauty that can only be found on the Dingle Peninsula. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and was the most economic accommodation of our two weeks. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat!
